Trip Information

Trekking in the locations between the Tibetan plateau and the breathtaking Dhaulagiri ranges, the Upper Dolpo trek is one of the best trekking destinations of the world. The entire area is filled with the off-track natural beauty. During the Upper Dolpo trek, the opportunity to meet with distinctive people and encounter their interesting culture and observing their way of life makes this fascinating trek really worth visiting. This unique land of paradise is full of unique light conditions, few high Himalayan passes, the vast and tranquil beauty of the Phoksundo Lake, magnificent Himalayans views, fascinating ancient monasteries, and wild wilderness.  Upper Dolpo in Nepal is one of the most remote and unspoiled areas situated near the Tibetan border, which is officially opened only after the late eighties for enthusiast out-door lovers. The mystical beauty of the Upper Dolpo region is successful to captivate many trekkers throughout the world and its remoteness provides a sense of adventure among its visitors.
Due to its high passes, trekkers rarely visit this most beautiful and least developed region of the Upper Dolpo districts in Nepal. Trekkers can pass through interesting places, beautiful valleys, native settlements, greenery forests of rhododendrons, pines, oaks, and many more, gigantic mountains, and many others to reach their desired destinations. The land of Upper Dolpo is famous to international trekkers due to its richness in spectacular landscapes, one of the deepest lakes Shey Phoksundo (145m depth), centuries-old Buddhist monasteries (Shey Gompa), isolated villages of Ringmo, wildlife, soaring peaks and many more are the major attractions in the Upper Dolpo area.
The Upper Dolpo trek begins from Kathmandu with a beautiful flight to Nepalgunj and we will take the next day an air flight to Jhupal from Nepalgunj. From Jhupal, we will begin our official trek towards Upper Dolpo. For this fascinating trek of Upper Dolpo, the summer and monsoon seasons are the best time in Nepal to participate in the Upper Dolpo trek.
