Trip Information

Arun Valley to Everest Base Camp Trek is beautifully located between Sagarmatha and Makalu Barun National park. This trek is one of the wonderful off-beaten treks which leads you through a non-touristy in Nepal.

Arun Valley to Everest Base Camp trek begins from Tumlingtar and goes through a deep valley of Arun and crosses a Salpa Pass at 3800 m. The trek continues through the main Everest trail and continues Everest Base Camp 5300 m and Kala Patthar 5545 m. Finally, this trek ends at Lukla by taking an exhilarating flight back to Kathmandu.

This combine two destinations amazing trek offers the superb Himalayas views of the two highest mountains in the world i.e Mt. Everest and Mt. Makalu.   1. Day 1 Arrive at Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel.

    On your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you’ll meet the Nepal Travel Expedition representative and they’ll help you to get transfers to the relevant hotel. In the evening, our guide will give you a short brief about Arun Valley to Everest Base Camp Trek. The rest of the time you can explore the Thamel market and get back to the hotel for an overnight stay.

  2. Day 2 Half Day sightseeing tour of Kathmandu.

    Early morning after having breakfast you’ll start your cultural tour of Kathmandu Valley. Some of the major highlights will be Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Kathmandu Durbar Square.

    After completing sightseeing, you’ll return back to your hotel and pack your backpack and equipment for the trek. Overnight stay at Kathmandu.

  3. Day 3 Fly to Tumlingtar (650m) 45 minutes’ flight and trek to Kartike ghat (840m).

    Early in the morning, you’ll fly to Tumlingtar, the eastern part of Nepal. From the flight, you’ll enjoy the scenic view of beautiful terraced fields, hills, snow-capped mountains, and traditional villages. After 45 minutes of flight, you’ll reach Tumlingtar at an altitude of 650 meters.

    From Tumlingtar you’ll start your Arun Valley to Everest Base Camp Trek. You’ll walk through the village trail and meet various ethnic groups of people and share their culture. Finally, after crossing the suspension bridge over the Arun river you’ll arrive at Karikeghat (840 m) for an overnight stay.

  4. Day 4 Trek to Gothe bazaar (775m) 6 hours.

    Today early in the morning you’ll have your breakfast and start your trek. At first, you’ll reach the tiny village of Balwa Besi. From here you’ll cross the small river and continue your trek through the forested area.

    En route, you’ll come across several small traditional settlements. Also, before reaching Gothe Bazaar, you’ll cross the Irkhuwa river two times. After 6 hours of trek, you’ll finally reach Gothe Bazaar (775 m) for an overnight stay.

    Gothe Bazaar is a mixed community of Gurung and Rai people. Thus, you’ll get well familiar with the Gurung and Rai people’s culture and their lifestyle.

  5. Day 5 Trek Salpa Phedi (1,680 m)- 6 hours.

    Today you’ll walk through rice terrace fields and pass the beautiful settlement of Rai and Sherpa people. Here most of the people are well engaged in producing the local Nepali paper from the local plant, Lokta (Dampne Papaerius). After continuous 6 hours walk and passing through a forest trail, you’ll reach Salpa Phedi (1,680 m) for an overnight stay.

  6. Day 6 Trek Salpa Phedi to Guranse (3,000 m) 5 – 6 hrs.

    Today early in the morning after having a hearty breakfast, you’ll leave for Guranse from Salpa Phedi. You’ll start your trek through a steep ascent from Phedi and reach at one point from where Irkhuwa Khola and Sanu Khola divide. Again, you’ll ascend for 100 m from Jaubire and reach the sprawling village of Thulo Foote.

    Further, following the gentle stone path, you’ll come across the beautiful forest of oak, rhododendron, and birch. Now from the Plunging valley, you’ll descend from the top of the bilobate. After 30 minutes of walk from Bilbate, you’ll reach the tiny stone village of Guranse (3,000 m).

  7. Day 7 Trek to Guidel (1,965 m) via Salpa pass 5 – 6 hrs.

    Today you’ll head towards Guidel via Salpa Pass which rests at an altitude of 3,055 meters. From here, you’ll follow the stone trail and continue your walk through the forest trail. The total duration of today’s trek is 5-6 hours. And finally, you’ll reach Guidel (1,965 m) for overnight camp.

  8. Day 8 Trek to Khiraule (2,360m) 3 – 4 hrs.

    Today you’ll start your trek on a pleasant trail and cross the bridge over the Hinku river which flows from the Meera Peak. After crossing this river you’ll reach another large Rai village of Bung. This village is famous as one of the most fertile areas for rice growing in eastern Nepal.

    Further, after one hour of climb through farmlands you’ll reach a small beautiful settlement of Khiraule village. You need to wear warm clothes as this village has a cold temperature compare to Bung and Guidel. Overnight stay at Khiraule village at an altitude of 2,360 meters above sea level.

  9. Day 9 Trek to Ghai Kharka (2,360 m) via Surkie La pass (3,100m) 6 hours.

    Today is another challenging day as you’ll cross another pass called Surkie La Pass. Walking through a forest trail, you’ll come across different ancient Chortens and Mani walls. After two to three hours you’ll reach Surkie pass at an altitude of 3,100 meters. The pass is well-marked with colorful prayer flags and the view of the valley is just breathtaking! From here you’ll descend towards Gai Kharka (2,360 m) for an overnight stay.

  10. Day 10 Trek to Pangbung (2,670m) 6 hrs.

    Today you’ll start your trek with a steep descend towards the fragile bridge over the Inkhu Khola. From here you’ll continue your trek for 2-3 hours and reach another village. As you gain altitude, you’ll get a spectacular view of the Inkhu valley and Meera peak. Further, you’ll walk through a windy path and reach Pangbung village (2,670 m) for an overnight stay.

  11. Day 11 Trek to Puiyan (2,800m) 5 – 6 hrs.

    Today you’ll head towards the main Khumbu area. Passing through old mani walls, en route you’ll get the distant view of hilltop villages of Bupsa and Kharikhola. After a few hours of walk, you’ll reach the base of Khari La Pass.

    Further, you’ve to walk for an hour to reach the top of the pass (3,075 m). From the top, you’ll get amazing scenery of snow-capped peaks. Enjoying the first view of Kusum Kanguru Peak, you’ll make a quick descent on a rocky trail to the main Jiri trail. And finally, you’ll reach Puiyan village (2,800m) situated just middle of the forest for an overnight stay.

  12. Day 12 Trek to Phakding (2,650m) 5 – 6 hrs.

    Today you’ll start your trek through a windy path and reach Sebuk Danda. From here, the trek lead towards the Surke village. Continuing the walk for two hours you’ll reach Lukla village. Again, you’ll go to Tarkhe Khola to get the mesmerizing view of Mt. Kusum Kanguru. Finally, after 5-6 hours of walk, you’ll be at Phakding village (2,650 m) over the bank of the Dudh Koshi river. Overnight stay at Phakding village.

  13. Day 13 Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m) 5 – 6 hrs.

    Today you’ll start your trek by crossing the suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi river. The walk is pleasant with a few short uphill and downhill and you’ll recross the same river again. Once you reach the small village of Monjo, the magnificent view of Mt. Thamserku will reward you.

    After Monjo, you’ll reach the main entrance of Sagarmatha National Park. Here you’ll get a chance to witness some rare wild species like Musk Deer, the Himalayan Thar, and Pheasant. From here a gradual walk brings you to the village of Jorsalle and the trek continues till you reach the last bridge over the Imjatse river.

    On the way to Namche, you’ll get a magnificent view of Mt. Kusum Kanguru, Kwangde Peak, Mt. Everest, Nuptse wall, Mt. Lhotse, and a closer view of Taweche Peak. Finally, after 5-6 hours of walk, you’ll reach the Sherpa’s Capital Namche Bazaar at an altitude of 3,440 meters.

  14. Day 14 Rest Day at Namche Bazaar.

    Today, you’ll go for acclimatization a short hike uphill to the Sagarmatha National Park Headquarters. From the top of Namche Bazaar, you’ll get a grand view of Namche, a Valley with snow-capped mountains in the background.

    Here you’ll also visit a museum and gather all types of information regarding the mountaineering history, Himalayas, and Sherpa culture. After exploring Namche Bazaar, you’ll return to the teahouse of Namche for an overnight stay.

  15. Day 15 Trek to Thyangboche (3,867m) 5 hours.

    Today, after 5 hours of trek, you’ll reach Thyangboche at 3,867 meters of altitude. After having breakfast at Namche, you’ll start your hike via the ridge of the hillside. On the way, you’ll indulge yourself in the panoramic views of Mt. Kusum Kanguru, Thamserku, and Ama Dablam.

    The first one hour of a trek is straight through the hillside and then you’ll descend to the river valley. Then you’ll continue your trek through the sub-tropical forests area. After a few hours of continuous walk, you’ll reach Thyangboche.

    Thyangboche village has the biggest Monastery in the Khumbu region. Here you can see monks attaining sacred religious Buddhist prayers. Besides, you’ll also see the dramatic view of beautiful Mt. Ama Dablam at the backdrop of Tengboche Monastery. After exploring the monastery you’ll return to the teahouse of Thyangboche for the overnight stay.

  16. Day 16 Trek to Dingboche (4,358m) 5 – 6 hours.

    Early in the morning, you’ll enjoy the grand view of Mt. Ama Dablam at the backdrop of Tengboche Monastery as it looks even more striking in the morning. Today’s you’ll start your trek with a short descend.

    Further, you’ll have a pleasant walk for half an hour and cross the bridge over the stream. From here you’ll notice the change in topography as the tree lines will end and you’ll enter into a dry and deserted hill area.

    On the way to Dingboche, you’ll pass through some interesting Sherpa settlements like Pangboche and Shomare. Finally, after a long 5-6 hours’ trek, you’ll reach Dingboche Village (4,358 m) for an overnight stay.

  17. Day 17 Rest Day at Dingboche.

    Today is another acclimatization day at Dingboche valley. You’ll have a whole day to explore the Dingboche village and surrounding place. You have options of a day walk to Chhukung village which will take approximately 3-4 hours from Dingboche. Chukhung valley is the last settlement on the eastern side of the Khumbu region. At Chhukung, you’ll notice some teahouses and get a superb view of the snow-capped mountains and glaciers of Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Imja glacier. After exploring Chukkung valley, you’ll return to Dingboche village for an overnight stay.

  18. Day 18 Trek to Lobuche (4,928m) 5 hours.

    Early in the morning, you’ll leave for the Lobuche village. From Dingboche village, the trail diverts towards the north and after few hours of the gradual climb, you’ll reach Pheriche village. This village offers you outstanding views of snow-capped peaks.

    Again, you’ll continue your walk through the ridge you’ll arrive at Thukla. From here after one hour of steep climb brings you to the top, where you’ll get astonishing views of Mt. Pumori and other surrounding peaks. After a continuous 5-6 hours of walk, you’ll reach Lobuche (4,928 m) for an overnight stay.

  19. Day 19 Trek to Gorak Shep (5,160m) & Hike to Everest Base Camp (5,357m).

    Today you’ll head towards Gorakshep. After a few hours of walkthrough rocky and windy trails, you’ll reach Gorakshep. En route, you’ll get superb views of Mt. Pumori, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Changtse, and other surrounding peaks.

    Gorakshep lies on the route of Everest Base Camp beneath rocky hill Kala Patthar and towering Mt. Pumori. After taking a rest for a while you’ll continue your trek towards Everest Base Camp and Khumbu Icefall.

    Due to the high altitude and the thin air, the walk is a little strenuous. After having a great moment and capturing some beautiful moments in base camp you’ll get back to Gorak Shep for an overnight stay.

  20. Day 20 Hike to Kalapathar (5,555m) and Trek to Pheriche (4,243m) 5 hrs.

    Today is the most exciting day of your whole trek as you’ll hike to the most beautiful vantage point of the Everest region i.e, Kala Patthar (5,555 m). After one hour of an intense hike, you’ll reach the Kala Patthar viewpoint.

    Kala Patthar means “Black Rock” in Nepali. It is one of the notable landmarks that rests on the southern ridge of Mt. Pumori above Gorak Shep. From the top of the mountain, you’ll get a spectacular view of Mt. Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Changtse, and also glimpses of the northern side and summit of Mt. Lhotse as well.

    You’ll witness the morning sunrise view over the tallest mountain in the world. The moment is a truly magical and dreamlike experience. After enjoying the grand moment you’ll descend back to Gorak Shep to continue your trek to Pheriche (4,243 m)Further, you’ll walk downhill and come across Thugla village. After 4-5 hours of pleasant walk, you’ll reach Pheriche village for an overnight stay.

  21. Day 21 Trek to Thyangboche- 5 hrs.

    Today you’ll start your trek with the short walk which brings you to the bridge. From here, you’ll continue your trek and after a few up and down first, you’ll reach Pangboche village. Now you’ll back again to the tree-lines and green vegetation area. After an hour uphill walk, you’ll reach Thyangboche village for an overnight stay.

  22. Day 22 Trek to Monjo (2,835m) 5 – 6 hrs.

    Today the first half of the trek will bring you back to Namche Bazaar. And from here you’ll walk gradually downhill and reach Monjo village (2,835 m) for an overnight stay. Today's walk is pleasant and you’ve to walk for approximately 5-6 hours.

  23. Day 23 Trek to Lukla (2,800m) 5-6 hrs.

    Today is the short and easy walk back to Lukla. Enjoying the beautiful mountain scenery and passing through some interesting Sherpa village you’ll reach Lukla village after 5-6 hours of walk.

    This is the final day of your Arun Valley to Everest Base Camp Trek so you can celebrate your successful trekking journey. Overnight stay at a hotel in Lukla village (2,800m).

  24. Day 24 Fly Lukla – Kathmandu.

    After having morning breakfast you’ll take a flight back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival at the domestic terminal of Tribhuvan International Airport, our staff will transfer you to the respective hotels.

    The rest of the day, you can spend on your own. As you can stroll around the nearby tourist places like Thamel and Durbarmarg. You can buy souvenirs for your close ones. Overnight stay at Kathmandu.

  25. Day 25 Transfer to International Airport for final Departure.

    Today as per your international flight time our representative will transfer you to the Tribhuvan International Airport. It’s time to say goodbye to the land of the Himalayas. Hope to see you soon!
